October Updates: New Coach, World Cup Travel, and Upcoming Clinics

New coach, new clinics, and international competition—here’s what’s happening this month.

Excellence Swimming is excited to share several updates for the month of October!


Coach Ruslan will be away over the next three weekends competing at the World Cup series. Coach Hannah will also be competing at the World Cup in Westmont on the weekend of October 18–19. We’re proud to see both of them represent on the international stage and wish them the best of luck!


In their absence, we’re pleased to welcome Coach Patrick Hemingway to the Excellence Swimming coaching team. Patrick is a former Division I swimmer at Villanova University and a current assistant coach at The Ohio State University. He also supports COA’s National, Senior, and Gold Groups as a technical assistant. Patrick will be coaching sessions this weekend on:

  • Friday, October 10: 5:45–7:45 PM

  • Saturday, October 11: 3:30–7:30 PM

  • Friday, October 24: 5:45-7:45 PM

  • Saturday, October 25: 3:30-7:30 PM

  • Sunday, October 26: 10:20 AM - 12:20 PM

We’re also excited to announce another clinic series with Coach Hannah later this month:

  • Friday, October 24 (6–8 PM, St. Charles).

Focus: mobility, streamline, breaststroke, pullouts, open and crossover turns, and starts.

  • 2-hour session, 6 swimmers max, 2 coaches

  • Saturday, October 25 (3:30–5 PM, St. Charles).

    Focus: mobility, streamline, brief breast, pullouts, open and crossover turns, starts.

    • 90-minute session, 6 swimmers max, 2 coaches
